All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.

In principle, it is permissible to work in publicity and advertising, whether by SMS or other means, but if it involves what is forbidden or it helps in something forbidden, then it is forbidden.

The general rule is that there are two cases for publicity and advertising:

1. The publicity or advertising is for something forbidden, or it includes something forbidden, then this is not permissible as this is helping in sin and transgression.

2. The publicity or advertising is for something lawful and the advertisement does not include something forbidden; then this is permissible and there is no harm in benefitting from what is earned from this.
