Question
Assalamu alaykum, i'm developing barcode scanner apps and I'm worried that my apps might be used for haram. I've come up with 3 different models: 1. The app scans the barcode and takes the user to Amazon 2. As above but I also get a cut if the user buys the product from Amazon. 3. The app scans the barcode and displays the name of the product the price etc, without going to any online website. I want to know whether making the app based on either of the 3 models above would be halal knowing that some users might scan barcodes of haram items such as bikinis or alcohol. Bear in mind that this app can be used with virtually any item, both haram or halal. I have no idea whether my users will use my app for halal or haram but I do know that Amazon deals extensively in selling haram clothing and even music. Jazakallah khairan

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Based on the uses of the mentioned "app" and the information you have provided in the question, there is no reason that developing this app and applying any of the three models underlined in the question should be prohibited.
