Occurrence of word ‘khaleefah’ in Quran

28-4-2016 | IslamWeb

Question:

Assalaamu alaykum. I have some doubt, can you please help remove it? I heard that the word 'khaleefah' is used only twice in the Quran, once for Adam and once for Dawud, but why is not used for Sulaymaan, who had the largest kingdom?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

After extensive research, we could not find any statements of scholars who addressed this issue.

We advise you to stay away from doubtful matters and ill thoughts as getting carried away with them may ruin one's life and undermine his religiosity. We also urge you to concern yourself with asking about matters that lead to doing rewardable deeds.

Allaah knows best.
