Working as hijaabi model

Question:

Is being a famous hijabi model haram? I mean, like walking on runways, but with my full hijab on, or shooting pictures for some brands?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We have previously underlined the ruling on a woman's work as a model in general. Please refer to fatwa 85406.

In our view, a believing woman should not work as a model, even if she is modeling hijaab, as this job undermines her respectability. Also, her picture may be taken with her face unveiled or while wearing a hijaab that does not meet the Shariah requirements, and it is quite likely that those for whom it is unlawful to look at her would look at her (meaning non-Mahram [marriageable] men).

Allah knows best.
