Sir I an engineer. I got a job in a networking company. My company's main clients are some of the banks in KSA. Our company is the one who prioviding connection between bank and ATM. So if it is the case my job is good one?My earning are halal?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

If your job in the company involves servicing banks which deal with Riba (usurious interest) by connecting the lines to them or providing them with communication services, then it is not permissible, as Allaah says (what means): {…but do not help one another in sin and transgression.} [Quran 5:2]

The Standing Committee for Issuing Fataawa in Saudi Arabia was asked the following question:

What is the legal status of working as a maintenance engineer in an electronics company which deals with some Riba-based banks? The company sells devices, such as computers, printers, and telephone sets, to the bank and assigns us as maintenance engineers to go to the bank for the maintenance of these devices on a regular basis. Is this work forbidden on the grounds that the bank prepares its accounts and organizes its work with such devices, and so we are helping the bank in sin? May Allaah enable you to do that which pleases Him, and may the Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon you?

Answer: It is not permissible for you to work for companies with the description you mentioned because it consists in cooperating in sin and transgression. May Allaah enable you to do good. May the Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his Companions. – Standing Committee for Scientific Research and Issuing Fataawa.” [End of quote]

As regards working in Islamic banks, it is permissible in principle to work for them in matters related to them.

Allaah Knows best.
