Salamu Alaikum What is the islamic ruling on owning and runing a business that processes credit cards transactions for other businesses that accept credit cards from their customers? thank you.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Giving a ruling on this project depends on the credit cards issued. If they are lawful, then it is lawful; but if they are not, then the project is unlawful too. We have clarified the kinds of credit cards and the rulings on them in Fataawa 84519 and 81447.
